BURN COURT: The Court of Moral Victories
Welcome to Burn Court: The Court of Moral Victories. We are bridging the gap between no recourse and legal recourse. We review and analyze listener-submitted disputes and decide a winner. You can think of our show as the offspring of a menage a trois between Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, and Night Court… and we do apologize for that visual.
In each episode, we will review one specific dispute that has been submitted by a listener. We’ll review the dispute through six lenses, including Legal, Historical, Literary, Philosophical, Religious, and Social Norms. In some cases we may include a seventh Science lens as well. Once an episode is uploaded to the site, listeners will be able to vote on who they think should win – one vote per episode.
To submit a dispute, simply navigate to the top bar and select “Submit a Dispute” and complete the required form. There is a small fee due to the number of submissions and to weed out spam. You (the “Claimant”) will be required to name the opposing party and provide an email address for them. This is to be fair and give each party an opportunity to share their side of the dispute. The opposing party can be a person or a business. That said, parties will have the ability to indicate that they want to remain anonymous, and we’ll do our best to honor their requests, but after all, this is about exposing bad actors.
Once a dispute is submitted, each party will be notified via email, and the opposing party (the “Respondent”) will have two weeks to respond. If no response is received, we reserve the right to create a show based on the dispute submitted, so we encourage you to respond.
We will rely on the facts as presented to us. This is for entertainment purposes primarily, but we hope it is also a constructive process for you that potentially leads to your desired result. As such, nothing said on the show is meant to be disparaging, we’re simply passing on the information as we received it. Though we sometimes use legal jargon for convenience, we are not a real court, nothing is binding, and this is not and should not be relied upon as legal advice. For a more detailed disclaimer, please see our Terms and Conditions page.
You may also subscribe to the show to receive additional bonus content. In these bonus episodes, we’ll cover all sorts of juicy contentious subjects such as Religion, Abortion, Gun Rights, Circumcision, Vaccinations, Climate Change, and similar topics. We will analyze each topic through the same 6 or 7 lenses and decide which side is the Moral Victor.
